How to connect espressimo to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok
October 8, 2026 · 6 min read
A step-by-step guide to adding the espressimo assistant to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok, signing in, choosing permissions and asking the first question.
With espressimo connected to an AI assistant, you can prepare an invitation, add guests and check the replies just by chatting. Connecting takes a few minutes and works the same way everywhere: add the server address, sign in to espressimo, and approve what the assistant may do.
What you need
- An espressimo account (free to start; guests and seating depend on your plan).
- An account with the assistant you want to use.
- The server address: https://www.espressimo.coffee/mcp. You can copy it from the AI assistants page.
Claude
- Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose to add a custom connector and paste the server address.
- Sign in to espressimo when asked and approve the permissions.
- Open a new chat and ask Claude to prepare an invitation.
- In Claude Code, run: claude mcp add --transport http espressimo https://www.espressimo.coffee/mcp, then type /mcp to sign in.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an administrator may need to add the connector first.
ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT settings and look for Apps or Connectors.
- Custom connectors need developer mode (usually under Advanced settings) and are offered on some plans only, so check what your account allows.
- Create a new connector, paste the server address, choose OAuth if asked and name it espressimo.
- Sign in to espressimo, approve the permissions and enable the connector in a new chat.
Gemini
- In the Gemini web app, open Settings and look for Connected apps.
- Add a custom app and paste the server address.
- Sign in to espressimo and approve the permissions.
- With Gemini CLI, add the server to ~/.gemini/settings.json (mcpServers, with httpUrl) and run /mcp auth espressimo.
Custom apps in Gemini depend on your plan, account type, region and language, so they may not be available to you yet.
Grok
- In Grok, open the settings and look for connectors, if your account offers them.
- Add a custom connector and paste the server address.
- Sign in to espressimo and approve the permissions.
- Developers can add the server to the tools of a request to the xAI API, with type mcp, the server address and the label espressimo.
Choose what the assistant may do
After you sign in, espressimo shows a consent screen. Tick only what you need: read events, change events, read guest names, add guests. Guests' phone numbers and e-mails stay private unless you also tick the contact permission.
Your first questions
- Make a christening invitation for Luca on 14 June at 12:00, at Casa Albă in Cluj-Napoca.
- Add these guests to my wedding: Maria and Andrei Popescu, and the Radu family of four.
- Who hasn't replied yet, and how many seats are confirmed so far?
- Give me the invitation link and a WhatsApp text I can send.
If something doesn't work
- The sign-in window closes without finishing: try again from a normal browser window, without extensions that block pop-ups.
- The assistant says it cannot reach the server: check that the address ends in /mcp and has no spaces.
- You cannot find custom connectors: they are not offered on every plan or in every region yet. Try another assistant or the developer option.
- You want to stop: open Profile, then Account, then connected assistants, and revoke access. It ends immediately.
